The unwritten qualifications

Let’s take a peek at some items that underlie today’s job search…
Here is the unwritten list:

  • Patience beyond that of a saint.  You need this to sift through tens, thousands, maybe even millions of job listings.
  • A vocabulary that exceeds Webster’s dictionary.   You need this to be able to detect all the nuances behind keywords and find just the right ones to 1) make the relevant job listings appear magically out of the masses and 2) put them in your resume so that the worst search engine can find them
  • Number and computer skills that would daunt the brightest CPA or most techno-savvy geek.  This is needed to comprehend the figures behind the job board listings and to be able to research your target companies on the web.
  • An ultra-secure hidden vault.   You need this to have a place for your personal privacy settings.  You will be signing onto gazillion websites and you need to keep them all secure with different passwords which you change weekly.   Can’t remember all of them?  This is what the vault is for.
So are you ready?  (I’m not!)
